The wave amplifier built in the Jardines del Rey tourist destination achieves a positive impact on the recovery of Laguna Larga —a reservoir near the Muthu Colonial, Tryp Cayo Coco and Mojito hotels— by maintaining stable conditions in the coastal ecosystem.

Specialists from the Territorial Delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) in Ciego de Ávila, explained that this system consists of a channel of approximately 100 meters, with gates, and takes advantage of maritime energy to allow the entry and exit of Water.

These conditions progressively restore vitality to Laguna Larga, previously with only one inlet from the eastern position, therefore, when the liquid reached the opposite end it was dead and clogged, so the fish lacked oxygen and life was scarce.

The cooperation ties between the Coastal Ecosystem Research Center (CIEC) and the Autonomous University of Mexico, made it possible to implement this project for the refeeding of the coastal dune, also with effects on the cleaning of the spa, taking into account that the interior lagoon it works as a bio-digester filter for the impurities of the beaches.

Likewise, the amplifier allows the dissipation of wave energy to be established in an aquatic environment and gradually, avoiding an action-reaction impact.

It is a mechanism in harmony with nature, which regulates the entry and exit of water through a system of gates, capable of preventing flooding, the CITMA specialists specified.
