A decisive boost in stabilization, after leaving behind industrial failures and achieving a greater contribution from the cane harvest, is what the sugar harvest in Ciego de Ávila requires to cut its arrears gradually.

That until the middle of this week the province has 73 percent of its sugar production plan scheduled for the date is due, basically, to the three occasions, since the beginning of the harvest, in which it has paralyzed the milling in the Ciro Redondo power plant due to bioelectricity, the high industrial time lost in the Ecuador refinery power plant, as well as material and organizational difficulties in the sugarcane harvest.

Eduardo Larrosa Vázquez, director of coordination and technical supervision of Azcuba Sugar Group in Ciego de Avila, told Invasor that currently the renewable energy plant based on biomass is momentarily stopped due to a break, which must be solved in the next few days (expected in two or three days) to continue the harvest in the nearby Coloso del Centro.

When taking into account such imponderables in Pines lands, which motivate compliance with their sugar plan to date only at 72 percent, "its harvest was planned to continue until the end of April to seek compliance with its plan, starting from which must manufacture more than 400 tons (t) of sugar per day. The resources and machinery available for this are available”, the manager commented.

As for Ecuador, it undertakes its productive purpose of manufacturing crude oil at 60 percent, reasons for which the milling was extended there until approximately March 15, Larrosa Vázquez explained.

Regarding the refining of the mill located in the town of Baraguá, he pointed out that so far more than 3,000 t have been produced and this process will continue, with projections of reaching compliance (around 12,000 t) as a whole to that of raw sugar ( at the middle of March). This production of a higher degree of purity has stabilized and in recent days more than 200 t per day have been produced.

Despite the breaks in the Baragüá factory, which in many cases has delayed its solution from 12 to 24 hours, "in the last week a much more stable plant has been seen, which has ground above 60 percent of its potential norm every day," he said.

As a strategy to recover from the delays in the production of the sweetener, this Wednesday the Primero de Enero mill started up again, which will continue grinding until the end of the harvest next April.

The director of coordination and technical supervision of Azcuba Sugar Group in Ciego de Ávila said that once the Baragua sugar factory completes its attack, scheduled for mid-March, its cutting equipment would be linked to the two remaining mills (Primero de Enero and Ciro Redondo) with the purpose of honoring the province's sugar plan.
