Massive participation of the people in national elections in Ciego de Ávila

Once again, the people of Ciego de Ávila amply demonstrated their revolutionary civility by going to the polls en masse and demonstrating this Sunday their unbreakable political unity, which calls not only for patriotic commitment and civic responsibility, but also for virtuous utility.

In the ten municipalities, the national elections took place with voters aware of their citizen commitment to contribute with their vote to the formation of the Cuban parliament, the only body with constituent and legislative power of the Republic of Cuba.

According to part of the National Electoral Council (CEN), some 3,382,992 voters had exercised their right to vote until 11:00 a.m. in the country, for 41.66% of the basic electoral roll, out of 8,120,072 voters.

Due to the behavior of the voters at the polls, it is expected that this central province will once again appear among the top four in the country with the best results in the voting this Sunday, as happened last November during the referendum on the Family Code.

Only the basic part of the provincial capital of Ciego de Ávila, the only municipality with two electoral districts, was 114,209 voters, who before 11:00 a.m. had already voted in a significant percentage.

At the closure of the polling stations, there was no urban or rural community in Ciego de Ávila where the majority of its voters had not exercised their legitimate right to a free, equal, direct and secret vote, in the proportion and according to the procedure determined by the law.

At polling station 1, of District 5, of the Ciego de Ávila City Center Popular Council, even a bride dressed in a suit and with her bouquet in hand exercised her right to vote very early.

To be elected as deputies to the Cuban parliament, the candidates in these national elections must obtain more than 50% of the valid votes cast, which is why citizen participation is vital for the formation of the National Assembly of People's Power.
