    Journalist receives the National Economic Journalism Award in Ciego de Ávila

    Ortelio González Martínez, from the Granma newspaper, won the National Prize for Economic Journalism in the written press category, with the report Bioelectric Power Plant from the Ciro Redondo factory: dreams of a divorced marriage, published in the Invasor newspaper.

    Ricardo Ronquillo Bello and Oscar Luis Hung Pentón, presidents of the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC) and the National Association of Cuban Economists and Accountants (ANEC), respectively, delivered the incentives at the headquarters of this organization, in addition to recognizing the work of the juries given the breadth of topics and content coming from almost the entire country, which denounce inconsistencies or problems in production and services, while contributing to the search for answers or solutions.

    In addition to Ortelio González, who receives the award for the fourth time in the written press, Yuset Puig Pupo, from the Las Tunas weekly 26, with Debts from rented transport without destination or capacity, and Yaidel M. Rodríguez Castro deserve mentions in this category, from Radio Cabaniguán, also from that eastern province, with “Las incompliables normas de la Forestal”.

    In the radio press, Daimary Peña Guillén and Raúl Rodríguez Peña, from Radio Angulo, from Holguín, stood out with the report High prices, and Ramón Ávalos Rodríguez, from CHHW, from Villa Clara, obtained a mention with the report Rescuing the sugar sector.

    The price of the unknown (referring to deficiencies in potato production and marketing), by Fátima Rivera Amador and Alina Cabrera Domínguez, from TelePinar, in the province of Vueltabajera, won the National Award for Economic Journalism on television.

    Mentions deserved Roxana Thompson Casamayor and Lisandra Sexto Gordillo, from the Information System of Cuban television, for the work Utilities; and Ismary Barcia Leyva, from Perlavisión, Cienfuegos, for her report Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Thermoelectric, a look inside.

    In the digital press, Jorge Enrique Jerez Bolsario, from the newspaper Adelante, from Camagüey, was awarded with El cerdo: what was, is no longer, a work in which this young reporter with a disability points out how in the critical situation with the swine mass they are not Few are responsible, in addition to denouncing the sacrifice of 800 breeders due to lack of food and efforts.

    Oscar Luis Hung Pentón highlighted the role of the media in the country's efforts to revive the economy, and invited them to accompany ANEC in its projects and events, among which stands out the XIV International Meeting of Economists on Globalization and Development Problems, scheduled for November.

    Meanwhile, Ricardo Ronquillo Bello stressed that everything that the press can do is very important to reveal where the obstacles are, the brakes and obstacles that prevent the takeoff of the socialist economy, all this set of measures adopted and that require materialization or implement efficiently and immediately.
