With more than 86 % turnout at the polls and more than 50 % of the valid votes cast, Ciego de Ávila elected its 23 deputies to the National Assembly of People's Power, which will take possession of its X Legislature on April 19th. The preliminary data of the vote, whose basic provincial part amounted to 341,438 voters, were issued by the Provincial Electoral Council (CEP).

En Ciego de Ávila más del 86 por ciento de asistencia a las urnas

From that institution, Osvaldo Álvarez Díaz, its president, described this result as favorable, since it exceeds the attendance at the national level by almost 11 % points (75.92), reported this morning at a press conference by Alina Balseiro, president of the National Electoral Council (CEN). In this way, the province achieves a greater turnout at the polls than that computed in previous processes such as the municipal elections last November and the popular referendum on the Family Code, in September 2022.

Florencia with 94 percent, Bolivia with 92 and Baraguá with 90 are among the municipalities that registered the highest attendance at the polls. However, Álvarez Díaz pointed out that other territories such as Ciego de Ávila and Morón, those with the largest number of voters, also achieved results higher than those of previous elections, with 83 and 86 %, respectively.

When evaluating the quality of the vote, Álvarez Díaz reported that, of the total ballots deposited, 92.21 % were valid ―a figure higher than the country average―, while 4.98 were blank and 2.81 they were annulled. In addition, of the total valid votes cast, 70.29 percent were votes for all and 29.71 were selective votes.
