The Turiguanó Genetic Livestock Company, in Morón, became the second entity in Ciego de Ávila to provide care and education services to the children of its workers, by inaugurating the Principios de Celia Children's House.

The installation will make it possible to provide an essential service for working fathers, mothers and families in charge of infants, who until now had no close alternative. Twelve children, in charge of two educators, is the full enrollment, also covered, with which the organization began to function.

Of that group, two are the little daughters of Imersi Savón, who told the Municipal Directorate of Education in Morón that she could now work with peace of mind, knowing that her girls "are fed and cared for." She does not say so, but it is also support for her care tasks, which would otherwise force her to give up her paid job, a source of income for her family and financial independence for her.

The facility opened its doors in the presence of neighbors and workers, led by Ania Rosa Francisco Malde, lieutenant governor of Ciego de Ávila, Benito Martínez Ausina, first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Morón, and Odelsis Valcárcel Pérez, president of the Federation of Cuban Women from Ciego de Ávila.

According to Yoleisy Valdés, municipal director of Education, the construction brigade of the company itself was involved in preparing the premises, together with the Early Childhood Department and the Educa a tu Hijo program.

The creation of children's houses is an alternative taken by the Ministry of Education in Cuba in the face of the high demand of daycare centers, whose enrollment is unable to cover. In Turiguanó, for example, the construction of a kindergarten has been waiting for the community for more than five years, according to this newspaper a few months ago.

They are, then, a variant of educational attention, in the institutional modality of Early Childhood, where care is provided to infants in entities that, based on their economic and material conditions, can allocate funds for their opening, maintenance and guarantee their sustainability. Education, as a ministry, is responsible for guaranteeing the material base for study and personnel.

In Ciego de Ávila, according to Alba Jiménez García, head of the Early Childhood Department in the Provincial Directorate of Education, only two children's houses have been opened, both in Morón, and one is expected to be inaugurated soon at the Pedagogical Training School Rafael Morales.

The figures are not encouraging; however, they should be measured in comparison to last August, when Ciego de Ávila was the only province that had not opened any.
