Cartoonist from Ciego de Ávila wins the Palante Prize at the Biennial of Humor

Gana caricaturista avileño Premio Palante en Bienal del Humor

The prominent cartoonist from Ciego de Ávila, Osvaldo Gutiérrez Gómez (Osval), won the Palante Award at the recently concluded XXIII International Graphic Humor Biennial, in San Antonio de los Baños.

The cartoon Mujer Olímpica was the selected work, in which Osval satirizes macho attitudes, contrasting male leisure against female hustle and bustle during the Olympics.

The Palante collateral award belongs to the humorous newspaper of the same name, since the biennial is convened by the Circle of Humorists and Cartoonists of the Union of Cuban Journalists and the Museum of Humor of San Antonio de los Baños, with the co-sponsorship of the Provincial Directorate of Culture of Artemisa.

The recently concluded XXIII International Graphic Humor Biennial of San Antonio de los Baños included other collateral recognitions such as the Dedeté, those of Barro sin bero, Mujeres al Sur and the Tommy Award.
