Sobreponerse a las dificultades para cumplir el plan de azúcar

The sugar harvest continues its rhythm in Ciego de Ávila, as it enters the last ten days of April with the aim of making the most of the days to cut all the available cane, with emphasis on that located in areas of the Agro-industrial Sugar Company (EAA) Enrique Varona.

At the beginning of the current week, the occurrence of rains in these plantations of the entity, located in the municipality of Chambas, have paused the work of the harvest, as they are in low areas, and the various forces were waiting for the removal of moisture from the fields to continue the bonding process towards the Ciro Redondo factory.

Eduardo Larrosa Vázquez, director of Coordination and Technical Supervision of Azcuba Sugar Group in the territory, told Invasor that four squads of Case combines (modern and more productive) are already available at EAA Enrique Varona with the purpose of accelerating the work of cut, in what is foreseen as a critical route for the fulfillment of the sugar plan of the province.

Regarding this goal, he said that approximately 16,000 tons (t) of sugar remain to materialize it, with more than 200,000 t of the sweet grass to be cut, a figure that gives guarantees, but, from now on, everything will depend on the effects of rains.

The so-called Coloso del Centro is currently the only factory in the territory and receives the entire balance of resources available in Ciego de Ávila for the harvest. That is where the raw material coming from Primero de Enero, Brazil (in Camagüey) goes, in addition to the one that remained in Ecuador, after this entity fulfilled its sweetener manufacturing plan.

"Historically, in Ciro Redondo the harvest has been done during the month of May, as the occurrence of rains in the center of the province is delayed longer, that gives us the advantage of overtaking in Varona and the possibility of complying with the provincial plan," Larrosa Vazquez commented.

Now in this fight against the clock and the meteorological variables, the search for efficiency in each of the processes must be a constant to meet the productive commitments made to the territory since the beginning of the 2022-2023 campaign.
