Activities are being prepared for the summer stage in Ciego de Ávila

Preparan actividades para etapa veraniega en Ciego de Ávila

Despite the fuel limitations for transportation and the difficult electrical situation that the province and the country are going through, Ciego de Ávila will seek to make the summer season fun, especially for children, adolescents, and young people, who will be in vacation period. This was revealed in the most recent meeting on recreation at the provincial government headquarters.

On the agenda of the Directorate of Culture, Roberto Jiménez González, deputy provincial director, pointed out there are summer workshops in the 19 houses of culture, the Contemporary Art Week, the Escaramujo, salsa dance schools and circus art festivals, among others proposals that will have their epicenter in the communities.

Likewise, it was learned that from this month until the end of the year reservations are open to popular camping sites, recreational institutions that in June will celebrate the 42nd anniversary of their creation in El Charcazo, according to Nexy Véliz Naranjo, a member of the Party Bureau in the territory.

As Campismo Popular reported on its institutional social networks in Ciego de Ávila, reservations have been on sale since last May 8th, for the period between July1st. and September 30. Capacities at five facilities are marketed, but transportation is not guaranteed.

Another option to secure is the Roberto Rodríguez Pioneer Explorer Camp, El Vaquerito, in the municipality of Majagua, the partisan leader said. In 2022, after its reopening, Invasor reported that 237 students there played participation games, danced and sang in commemoration of the 96th anniversary of the birth of Fidel Castro. No less is expected this year.

In homage to Africa Day (May 25), the V edition of the Aguas Mil event will be held from May 17 to 19, sponsored by the Clotilde Agüero Raciality Commission, of the Provincial Committee of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, and the Provincial Book Center.

A few days later, from May 25th to the 27th, the XXVIII Floral Games will take place, the longest running literary contest in Ciego de Ávila, organized by the Saíz Brothers Association, Jiménez González specified.

For now, the sport continues to attract the public ―although at discrete levels― in the continuation of the two most spectacular competitions in the country: the National Baseball Series in its 62nd edition and the Superior Basketball League, with the Buffalos from Ciego de Avila among the semifinalists once again, Yadiel Pérez Téllez, coordinator of programs and objectives of the provincial government, assumed.

Before concluding, it is worth emphasizing that May began on the right foot, saying goodbye to the first international event Dancing at Home ―in Majagua― that not only moved the feet of companies from Ciego de Avila, but also fostered the theoretical debate on this manifestation of art.

In the same way, the city of Morón developed its culture week and danced to the rhythm of the third edition of the Al Son del Gallo Pío Leyva in Memoriam Festival, which seeks to safeguard the Cuban musical genre.

The Recreation Commission will periodically check the organization and insurance for the summer season, which this year.
