In the coming days, the Provincial Award for Quality Excellence will be announced, an award that reached its quarter century in the search for the best practices on the matter among the business community of Ciego de Ávila.
The official launch will take place on Tuesday, May 23 in the Equilibrio program of Televisión Avileña, and will be open until June 14 for all those entities with their own legal personality (both state and non-state) and positive economic results in no less than a year, announced at a press conference Raúl Ernesto Rivera Espinosa, director of the Territorial Unit for Normalization.
Regarding the schedule to follow with the companies that enter the competition, it will begin at the end of June with the presentation of the files and will culminate on January 15, 2024 in an award ceremony, on the celebrations for the Day of Cuban Science, he added.
A committee of experts will analyze all the proposals, in which evaluators from the Territorial Delegation of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment will also participate; the provincial Labor and Economy and Planning directorates, the Environmental Regulation and Safety Office, among others.
For this edition, it will have the novelty that its trophy will have its own name and design that distinguishes it.
In the case of the first, it will be AviLMEG-2023 (the number will vary depending on the year in question). Regarding the letters that make up the name, Reina de la Caridad Torres Pérez, director of Communication for the Provincial Government of Ciego de Ávila, explained that the first three refer to the avileño name, while the last four are related to the guiding principles of quality: leadership, continuous improvement, focus on processes and customers, and relationship management, as established by ISO 9001:2015 standards.
The prototype of the trophy, not yet definitive but as a proposal to undergo modifications, carries the checkmark symbols (✓), the letter C (quality) and the star, elements common to laurels of this type. As identification, it will also have a column alluding to Ciego de Ávila as City of Portals, but at the same time it means support and rigidity, Juan Carlos Martínez Peña, graphic designer of the Communications Directorate of the Provincial Government of Ciego de Ávila, said.
With the concretion of the name and trophy identifying the Provincial Award for Excellence for Quality, Ciego de Ávila will be the second territory in the country to have such hallmarks in distinctions of this type after Havana, known as the Giraldilla Award for Quality of business management.
This award, granted by the Provincial Government of Ciego de Ávila since 1998, pursues the following objectives: to stimulate and recognize organizations that are distinguished by the success achieved in their business and quality management, turning them into reference organizations among the best; and promote the use of the Cuban experience in the use of the total quality management approach and practices, as a way to achieve efficiency and competitiveness.
