    Diana, guardiana de la vida

Since she was little she dreamed of being a doctor. She wanted to be like her mother, to save lives, cure diseases, ease the pain of everyone in need. She wanted to be useful… Diana Isabella Rancaño Peña, she is in her 4th year of Medicine and is about to make that dream come true.

She admires her mother, like so many others, who have fulfilled the beautiful duty of bringing health to sister lands. “If she had to, she would do it with great satisfaction. It is an essential part of the humanism of this profession”, this girl says, a student who dresses in fashion, likes good music and adores animals, that is why she is also happy about the recent Decree Law that guarantees their protection, with which they can be eradicated acts of abandonment.

She thanks her maternal grandparents for having been her guides during those years when Beatriz, her mother, was in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. She, with them, continues to count on everything and strives to make them feel proud of her granddaughter.

She is cheerful, sometimes shy, but the task of active inquiry has allowed her to overcome a certain stage fright. She recognizes that it is an important task. “We are gaining more and more the trust of the population. We can detect respiratory symptoms, which allows prompt action. Covid-19 has been a real challenge but we can overcome it”, the young federated woman, who participates in the activities organized by her delegation, although the study occupies most of her time, assures.

Diana loves her country and knows that she will never let it down. From her youth, she appreciates that only in a nation like Socialist Cuba are women's rights respected, they occupy their rightful place and contribute to building a just and equitable society.
