    Edificio Balbin

It was built in 1920, owned by Mr. Alejandro Suero y Balbín, rich merchant of this city and owner of numerous land and buildings in the last decade of the nineteenth century.

Precisely at this time, he bought from the Spanish merchant Celestino Cases, a house that he had manufactured on Avenida O, between 35 and 37 in Punta Gorda, known as the “Quinta Morisca”, in the city of Cienfuegos. A few years later, Balbín gave this house to his daughter Amparo as a wedding gift, when she married the wealthy merchant Acisclo del Valle Blanco. Then, they established their residence in this house 1917; they made the expansion of the sumptuous building known today as “Palacio de Valle”.

Building belonging to the eclectic style, characterized by the presence of the portal run in the form of a gallery with columns of cylindrical section, with chapiter of composite order, it has a decorated headband in the middle of it, these columns support the cornice and the beautifully decorated light balustrade which is topped with repetitive coconuts that are very well preserved. It has a second level with identical characteristics. This level only covers a part of the whole lot, which constituted the home of the former owners of this trade of which it bore their name.
