MISSION:
We are the Provincial Directorate of Sport, a sports institution, which represents the revolutionary, socialist, Martian and fidelist ideals before the Avilanian people, perceptible in sports, student, family, work and citizen behavior. Organization that leads, promotes sustainable development in sport for all, sports training and teaching staff, as well as the application of science and technology and the improvement of economic management to improve the quality of life of society , based on ideological political education, moral ethics and values. To direct the efforts to the implementation of the guidelines approved by the VI Congress of the PCC and to guarantee the solidity and quality of the preparation of the town for the defense of the homeland.

We will remain the leading sports institution in the province: in sports for all, sports training and teaching staff, the application of science and technology and the improvement of economic management, through a solid work of ideological preparation that guarantees in time the relief of athletes, patriots, worthy and incomprable. With a renewal and change attitude that guarantees the elevation of the social impact on sport, health and its results, to place ourselves in a deserved place nationwide. Fulfilling the social order of the institution, through the implementation of the agreements adopted at the VI Congress of the PCC.
FUNCTIONS:
Resolution No. 46 dated February 19/20018 issued by the Provincial Assembly of the Popular Power of Ciego de Ávila, which approves the Functions of the Budgeted Unit called PROVINCIAL BUDGETED SPORTS UNIT, subordinated to the Provincial Administration Council of the Provincial Popular Power of Ciego de Ávila, its functions being the following:
Plan, direct, organize and develop sports activities in the Province.
Increase the quality of life and free time occupation of the population, through the development of participatory sports and physical recreation.
Plan the development of provincial, national and international sporting events, taking into account their own insurance.
Carry out the attention to athletes, coaches, referees, national and foreign visitors and other personnel, as part of the sports activities that are carried out.
Support the preparation of athletes participating in competitions.
Host events and activities in general, with prior approval of the corresponding level.
Make the collection of tickets to sports shows in national currency to Cuban natural persons and in convertible currency through Cuba sports to foreign natural persons in those sports facilities that have the conditions for it.
Make the collection of tickets to the gyms of physical culture and the practice of aerobic music gymnastics for adults to the population in national currency.
Carry out the attention to sports training and development in provincial academies and other institutions of the province's education system.
Provide attention to athletes, former athletes, their families, coaches, judges and technical teams and glories of Cuban sport.
Offer rental services of sports facilities and theaters for political, social, and cultural activities in national currency, with prior authorization from the sports management of the territory.
Provide dining and cafeteria service to workers, in national currency.
Promote scientific development and technological innovation associated with specialized scientific-technical services.
To guarantee the specialized medical control to all high performance athletes in the different categories, throughout the territory, as well as the medical assurance in all provincial, national and international events that take place, in addition to maintaining special attention in health education and in the fight against dumping, as well as stomatological medical care of retired athletes.
Ensure the allocation of resources and sports equipment to provincial centers and municipalities through wholesale marketing.
Develop the different physical education programs of the school population.
Guarantee attention to the disabled population in the systematic practice of physical activity.
Make the selection of sports talents in the different structures for recruitment in the provincial centers.
Offer sports computer services to competitions, centers, schools and academies of the sports system in the province.
Provide parking service in national currency.
Develop Local Industries that produce sporting goods in the territory according to the agreed strategic alliances.
Guarantee attention to the disabled population in the systematic practice of physical activity.
